Myth 8: The cop won’t show up for my court date and I’ll go free

This isn’t a traffic ticket. In 30 years of handling DUI cases, I cannot recall having a case dismissed because a police officer did not show up. It is possible that a police officer is not available on a certain date. If that is the case, the court will continue the matter on a date in which they can appear. On cases as serious as a DUI, you can count on the police officer to show up. Don’t gamble your case on your officer not showing up. The chance of a case getting dismissed for this reason is extremely rare.
